In order to resist the state’s plans to turn this lively self-organized neighborhood into so called "social" housing, Aristotelis Chantzis, a member of the community is on a hunger strike until death. But still, after more than 46 days of hunger strike, the regional government of Attica hasn't reacted and doesn't seem to back off. Following the Demands of Aristotelis, we also demand: -the immediate cancellation of the Plan of the Region of Attica! -All residents of Prosfygika to remain in their homes! This is why we as borderless collective decided to do a symbolic hunger strike in support of Aristotelis. We believe this symbolic hunger strike doesn't only raise awareness and builds up pressure internationally about the ongoing situation of heavy repression, but also gives us the opportunity to connect with our comrade Aristotelis and the struggle of Prosfygika on a different level. Deshalb haben wir als Borderless Kollektiv beschlossen, einen symbolischen Hungerstreik zur Unterstützung von Aristotelis durchzuführen. A few months ago, people from the Prosfygika were with us in Frankfurt with their Europe-wide campaign #saveprosfygika to collect money for the preservation and renovation of the houses and build international solidarity structures.
Vor ein paar Monaten waren Menschen aus der Prosfygika auch bei uns in Frankfurt mit ihrer europaweiten Kampagne #saveprosfygika um Geld für Erhalt und Renovierung der Häuser zu sammeln und internationale Solidaritätsstrukturen aufzubauen.
And of course the state will do the same, as it happens right now with perhaps the biggest political squatting project in Europe of Prosfygika in Athens, Greece, which the city plans to "renovate" (just an excuse to destroy the community really)
