A Scadoxus bud emerges in spring. Here there is a tall stalk and bud, with three other bulbs about to send up stalks. They are in a black flowerpot on a green backdrop.

Native to east and south Africa #Scadoxus multiflorus (AKA #FireworksLily, Blood Lily, Football Lily, Starfire Lily) are spectacular. Like Hippeastrums/Amaryllis, they send up a thick stalk and bud in spring, then flower before leaves emerge. They are toxic, so avoid if you have pets/small kids.
