Still, the SSPs have a place in Integrated Assessment Modeling and scenario development, and the role of the #ScenarioServices team at @iiasa.ac.at is to develop the tools and packages for modelers and expert users. And I think the new generation of #ScenarioExplorer apps is a big step forward...
One advantage of transferring the legacy SSP web database to the new #ScenarioServices infrastructure...
You can can now query SSP scenarios directly via the #python package #pyam_iamc 🎉

For a decade, the Shared Socioeconomics Pathways #SSP are used for scenario research related to climate change mitigation.
Now, GDP & population projections were updated by @iiasa.ac.at & the team at the #OECD, and the #ScenarioServices team set up a new interactive app to explore the scenarios!
Excited that the #ScenarioServices team at @iiasa.ac.at was invited to support the modeling & scenario analysis for the #GEO7 report, exploring "An Ambitious Roadmap to a Green and Prosperous Future".
The modeling results for the assessment are now available under CC-BY at geo7.apps.ece.iiasa.ac.at
GEO7 Scenario Explorer view of CO2 emissions by region in the Technology Focused vs. Behavioral Focused Pathways as implemented by the IMAGE modeling team, reaching global net-zero CO2 emissions well before 2050

The pyam package for scenario analysis is linked to the open-source #ixmp4 package for database management, which serves as the backbone for the #ScenarioExplorer apps developed and maintained by the #ScenarioServices team at the @iiasa.ac.at #Energy #Climate #Environment (ECE) program...
Over the past months, the #ScenarioServices team at @iiasa.ac.at has been busy improving our open-source packages for scenario analysis and database infrastructure...
🎉 Happy to announce release v3.1 of the pyam package for working with #IntegratedAssessment & #EnergySystems scenarios!

How much CO2 can we store in geological deposits to "turn down" the temperature from our fossil-fuel emissions?
Matt Gidden et al. assessed the potentials, and the @iiasa.ac.at #ScenarioServices team & @quantstack.bsky.social developed interactive maps!

After having spent the past months on pushing the Second Austrian Assessment Report on Climate Change #AAR2 to publication, I'm now finally getting back to some Python coding - new features for the @iiasa.ac.at #ScenarioServices apps and explorers to come soon!

The Energy Climate & Environment program at @iiasa.ac.at had its quarterly meeting today (~100 researchers), so I had to reflect on our role as community data hub and what to present on behalf of the #ScenarioServices & #ScientificSoftware team.

How can Europe 🇪🇺 reach climate neutrality?
The #Horizon2020 project #ECEMF develops a full-scale model comparison exercise to produce a coherent evidence-base for energy & climate policy impact assessment.
The scenarios are accessible under CC-BY, hosted by the @iiasa.ac.at #ScenarioServices team.
Working with NUTS administrative EU 🇪🇺 regions is one of the little nuisances in #energysystems modelling and scenario analysis.
So the IIASA #ScenarioServices team put together a little #opensource #python utility package..
