The ridgeline leading to Longs Peak is reflected with near-perfect symmetry in the still water. Large rocks protrude from the lake, and a rugged stone shoreline frames the scene. The photograph was taken at sunrise, but with the sun still hidden behind the mountains, the valley remains in deep shade, enhancing the contrast and quiet mood of the scene.

A beautiful sunset picture at Izaak Walton Nature Area in the middle of Longmont, Colorado. In this horizontal color photograph one is looking east across the fishing pond at the nature area. In the very bottom of the frame (1/6) you can see the pond water. In the bottom third you can see the shoreline with cattails, fallen trees, rocks and then trees and old leftover agricultural grain processing and storage buildings.
