Caravaggio: Medusa I never thought I'd find myself here: sharing a platter with John the Baptist, a novelty favour at a wedding feast for some spoilt rich kid. Hero? I beg to differ. Still, I'm quite the dowry: since Athena saw fit to put a halt to me and Poseidon (as if she'd never screwed on an altar!) and gave me a face to make the boys cower, I'm one of a kind, a collector's item. Or I was. But even my severed head is a loaded weapon, my dead babies still writhe and rear to bite: so place me on the top table for the big reveal, drink down my hatred with your final meal.
Since the internet has gone all Greek, here's my tuppence worth, from the lovely limited edition printed by Rum Do in Venice. #poetry #scottishpoets #writerscommunity #poetrylovers #greekmythology #medusa #sonnets
