A rather relaxed and very enjoyable day on Cairngorm yesterday. Helped to burn off the single malt from the night before! #scotwinter
Framed by birch trees, looking across a road with a gate to a rocky hill, there is some snow at the top. Blue sky with clouds.
Moray the dog stood on a grassy and rocky hillside, the hills behind him can be just seen through the mist.
Moray the dog stood on a gravel track on a grassy hillside. Behind him there are more rocky & grassy hills, the highest points have some snow cover. Cloudy and dull.
Moray the dog stood next to s summit cairn of rocks with a lot of moss cover. It is hazy, some hills and a loch can be seen behind him.
Day out with Moray to Sgùrr an Utha, just north of the main road to Mallaig.
Started off in nice sunshine, but rapidly clouded over. The cloud base was around 800m, so we just escaped, but most of the surrounding hills were in cloud. A few flurries of snow or […]

A gravel path up through a heathery hillside. Higher up is a rounded summit, then behind that a pointy summit, the top of the hill is white with snow. There are a few rocks in the foreground, with Moray the dog in front of them. Blue sky.
Heading towards a pointy summit with a small rocky outcrop, the ground is mostly white with snow & rocks showing through. But there is a gravel path up which is mostly clear of snow. Moray the dog is stood on the path. Blue sky.
Moray the dog stood on snowy ground at the summit of a hill, there are some rocks showing through, he is next to a concrete trig pillar. In the distance the lower ground is fields and areas of forest, all free of snow. Hazy blue sky.
Summit selfie, Moray the dog and me. We are sat on rocky ground which is covered in snow. I am wearing sunglasses and wrapped up well against the cold wind, with yellow padded jacket and woollen bobble hat. In the background the lower ground is hazy but clear of snow. Hazy blue sky with clouds onthe horizon.
Ben Rinnes is a distinctively shaped hill, always in the view from the Northern Cairngorms, & has always been on my to-do list. Today we did it.
Lovely bright sunshine, but the wind was baltic, and from the south so we had no shelter from it at all, apart […]

A beautiful (but REALLY cold) day on Ben Each and Stùc a' Chròin. Crampons almost the whole day, it was great!!! #Scotwinter #ThinkWinter
An ice climber bridging up a steep corner
The same climber hidden by a large volume of spindrift
Now you see him…
Now you don’t.
Greenham getting the full Shelterstone treatment, at an inopportune moment on Sticil Face a few years back. A majestic line on a quality cliff.
🤞 for decent #winterclimbing conditions this weekend, perhaps without quite so much spindrift. 🏔️

Nice to have some hill time. There’s something special about winter light. Beinn an Dòthaidh and Beinn Dòrain

Another weekend away from the hills. Thinking back to a couple of years ago and a braw time in the Cairngorms #ScottishWinter #ScotWinter #hiking #Munros #Cairngorms
Good ice on Comb Gully lots of fresh snow and spindrift coming down. Cornice on No.4 looks like its about to collapse #scotwinter
