Seven Scythes of the Emperor coloured Marines from the new Kill Team Starter, now really starting to get close to Battle ready with all undercoated parts now painted over. Additional info. Washed over the Gold with Skeleton Horde Contrast to give it shade. Grey Cloak is 50/50 Celestra Grey and Glyph Charger Grey, then washed over with Soulblight Grey Shade. The smoke from the smoke grenade was also this colour but with a Nuln oil shade instead. Parchment and nameplates were painted with a slightly thinned Screaming Skull, then washed with Skeleton Horde Contrast. The Captain's cloak was a 50/50 mix of Screamer Pink and Sigvald Burgandy contrast. Plasma energy/piping was a slightly thinned Thousand Sons Blue and then washed carefully with Talassar Blue Contrast. The Rope was Mephiston red. The Wax seals are a 50/50 mix of Screamer Pink and Evil Sunz Scarlett, I really liked the colour this makes, likely I'll do all my seals this tone from now on. Grenades and the Auspex was Ork Flesh Contrast and once dry Dark Angels Green Contrast right over the top. Rocks were thinned The Fang, and then Space Wolves grey contrast over the top. The casings are just leadbelcher and Mephiston red for the two parts. Dirt was XV-88 and the Cygor Brown over the top. Still have touch ups to do tomorrow, bit on the yellow and a lot on the black, I don't normally do Chapter Icons for Battle ready, but as it is likely I will be taking both these and the Death Guard from the new Kill Team to fully painted in short order, I plan on making an exception.

Lots of small bits painted tonight, too much info for the post, so will give a colours rundown in the alt text for those interested.

The Scythes are really starting to get toward battle ready now, hopefully done tomorrow.

Marines from the new Warhammer 40K Kill Team starter box. They have been undercoated with Grey Seer spray and had an application of a black mix on leg, head and arm armour as they are being painted as Scythes of the Emperor.

Time to get going on the 'Scythes of the Emperor' Marine half of the Kill Team box. I'm going to share each stage as I go with these guys just for a bit of fun.
So starting black (about 60-40 mix of Abaddon Black Base and Black Legion contrast)

Imperial Pilot from the Warhammer 40K Starter edition (4th or 5th, not sure which) Painted as a Scythes of the Emperor Auxiliary. Additional Info - Decided to use him as a test model, so Battle Ready plus kind of thing. I think this will be the standard I am looking for most of my models eventually, with only Characters going with more fine details and highlights, Overall I am very happy with him.

Been busy offline today, but also working on the old crashed lander 'Pilot' as part of 'mini' inspiration between myself @roll1toexplode.bsky.social and @marcyrat.bsky.social

Went with an old fave Chapter, think the new Marine KT will follow suit.

Scythes of the Emperor, 3rd Company, Infernus Sergeant.
Had my eye on this chapter since early 90s but was always intimidated by the yellow.
Now with a few decades experience Im pretty happy how he turned out.
