Photo of a messy pile of playing cards. The card faces are black. Suits like diamond and hearts are yellow and purple instead of red. Clubs and spades are cyan and blue, not black. They have a PCB circuit style artwork.

I’m only just digging through some of the goodies from #Securitay2026. These are pretty cool cards. I don’t think I have any “dark theme” cards.

I managed to persuade a few very cool #infosec folks to join the fediverse.

Their profiles don’t look like much, yet, because some of them were munching on ramen while they signed up and all of us were busy at #Securitay2026 . But maybe we can light up their feeds a bit and show them that it’s […]

Then he puts up a list of social media networks that (a) misses out on a bunch, and (b) I have accounts on only 3 of these 5, and I’ve only logged into one of them in like the last year.

Bullshit slide showing various LLMs and how they perform on the “Mensa” IQ test. He did denigrate the idea, but not for the right reasons.

He puts up the racist, eugenicist notion of “IQ” on the board and doesn’t even mention the racist eugenicist origin of “IQ.”

Washed out photo because the projector is not very bright. Bullshit AI picture showing a bunch of graphics and AI phrases. The person’s left had sorta disappears beneath a book on the table.

Same bullshit drawing. This time the operator with his back to the viewer has security in both his jacket and the back of his baseball cap. Vulnerability scanning, as a term, shows up 3 times.

The inevitable AI keynote at #Securitay2026 . Too bad about the old sod’s left hand.

When he evolves to “security,” it’s pretty clear vulnerability scanning is important. Because it’s on the picture 3 times.

So far the useful line that I will be reusing was from Gavin’s keynote. Probably been said before, but this was the first time I had heard it.

“These days, attackers don’t break in. They login.”

When identity is the perimeter, that’s what attackers are after. It’s good that we moved away from […]

Fascinating deep dive on denuvo #DRM / #anticheat software for games. The "Cyber Quarter" is full of really interesting talks today.

Really neat talk by @phrawzty . Looking into security of 6 different package registries. Does the registry enforce MFA? Does the registry offer signing or attestation, etc.

Turns out that NPM scores really high compared to its peers. creates.io comes in low. Not as bad as packagist or hex.pm […]

Looking at the security of public software registries at #Securitay2026. Opens with the question: "Which is more secure? `crates.io` or **npm**?" Hasn't been answered yet... more to come.

Amusing; the young woman working the hotel breakfast sees “#securitay” on my jacket and asks what that is. It’s a #cybersecurity conference hosted and run by the students in Abertay Uni’s Ethical Hacking and Cybersecurity masters program. She is a student at Abertay and her flatmate is in the […]
