Recent studies show that blood neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratios correlate with IPF lung function and predict outcome [3]. Neutrophils may contribute to fibrotic lung disease via the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), proteinases (e.g. neutrophil elastase), and neutrophil extracellular traps [4–7].
