Finally got some more clear sky last night, and got a couple of images with my #SeestarS50, 47 minutes of 10 second exposures on the Pinwheel Galaxy (M101 ) and 31 minutes on the Cigar Galaxy (M82, in the centre) with Bode's Galaxy (M81) in the top right

Dark sky with a small spiral galaxy in the middle with clearly distinct spiral arms

Messier 100, (for some reason unofficially dubbed the Blow dryer Galaxy) has exquisite spiral arms. Taken last night from our front yard in Portland (Bortle Class 7)... the Seestar S50 was taking pictures until 4am before it set behind some trees. #m100 #seestars50 #portland #bortle7 #mirrorgalaxy

Because the UK sky gods continue to smile upon me, here’s some more #SeestarS50 #Astrophotography
This is NGC 3631, a ‘small’ spiral galaxy seen face on. You can find it in Ursa Major, and it’s an absolute gem.
An hour of imaging here. Noise reduction by Seestar […]

Tge galaxy M84 in Virgo. But just below in this screen grab is a cluster of pinkish pixels... that PGC169281 a galaxy and it is TWO BILLION light years away!

So just below M84 here is a wee smudge of pixels. They are vaguely pinkish (zoomed in here so the colour is an artefact).
Those pixels a PGC169281 a galaxy that is A) travelling away from us at 11% the speed of light & B) is 2 BILLION light years away!

It's high time that I started the learning curve to do variable star photometry with my SeeStar S50. I need some kind of "guide for dummies." Here's an image of the galaxy M101 I took last week. #SeeStarS50 #AAVSO

Right then! For the first time this year basically I got a GOOD night of #Astronomy and #Astrophotography with the #SeestarS50. And it’s Galaxy Season. And I got the scope to do 20s subs with basically NO rejections. Truly the astronomy gods smiled upon me last night. So here’s a wee thread of […]
