A mosaic of six early autumn treasures.
Top left: a Small Copper butterfly rests on a vivid pink knapweed flower, wings edged with burnt orange.
Top middle: the base of a giant pine cone, placed on white paper with handwritten words: “base of a fir cone, like the iris pattern of an eye.”
Top right: a tiny home grown peach, being eaten by ants—obviously finding it utterly delicious! Nestled in green ground cover, as if resting on a picnic blanket.
Bottom left: three knopper galls with stems, arranged on paper with the handwritten label: “knopper galls, Quercus macrantherides.”
Bottom middle: a dusky brown moth with outstretched wings, resting on a painted white wall.
Bottom right: nine tiny round oak burls, or burr knots arranged in a neat grid, titled “fairy door knockers and toads (oak)” in delicate handwriting.

Still not very present here — Neuro-Lyme and tapering meds haven’t made for a summer breeze. But with autumn’s arrival, perhaps things will begin to settle. Sharing a few first-of-September treasures before an autumn wind carries my good intentions away #CreativeRecovery
