The serviceberries I picked this morning. I still need to wash them, but I wanted to show how pretty they look.

I did some foraging after breakfast. I managed to get about a 1/2 cup of serviceberries. Then I took pictures of the flowers. All in all, it was a good morning despite the INSANE HEAT.

Please stay hydrated if you decide to go out in this 90°F heat. 🙏🏽

Late June is here, which means it’s time for Saskatoon berries (AKA Juneberries, AKA Serviceberries)! Today, I harvested two quarts, with more ripe berries ready in a week. Just enough to make four 1/2 pints of jam.

First six cups of 2025 #serviceberries are rinsed, bagged and in the freezer. (Last year was a bumper crop, so we’re still working through 2024’s harvest!)

#Serviceberries are ready! (Photo hastily taken on my morning dog walk.)

AKA juneberries, these tasty little guys are native to my part of the U.S., but they’re often planted as ornamental trees. When I moved here, I was pleasantly surprised to learn the fruit […]

#Serviceberries from the #garden.

This uncommon native #berry tastes like a red cherry. They are very forgiving, and don't require any care here.

Main problem is excessive rust fungus, which coats most of the early berries and leaves as well. Plant with caution and maybe some copper spray.

It's serviceberry season. What the heck is a serviceberry? Local foragers know that the last stretch of spring is the serviceberry’s time to shine. The North American native plant’s harvesting season is reaching its tail end. Atlanta foragers, chefs, and bart...

I enjoy observing how my #ShadblowServiceberry tree transform with each season. This 5 year old tree has brought me so much joy after learning more about it. Can't wait to enjoy the #serviceberries in a couple of months.
