It was presented at #FENS2022 in Paris & #SFN23 in Washington DC.

This was first published @biorxiv-neursci.bsky.social in 2023. After positive peer review at another journal, we went to the new model at @elife.bsky.social. We found the process to be fair, transparent, rigorous & valuable.

I actually noticed this was broken earlier when I wanted to patch (it's a shared puller....), and took that as my cue to finally dial in our own Narishige.

With the help of a puller-guide I got from them at #SfN23, I got it to pull beautiful stable patch pipettes!

One of the most heartwarming moments for me was seeing two participants in the #DisabledInSTEM Mentorship Program meet up at #SfN23! It's amazing to know that these virtual connections lead to in-person friendships!

I absolutely love the mini neuron art from @artologica.net, picked up at #sfn23 (planned to be holiday gifts but I might have to keep one for myself)

#SfN23 was incredibly good to me. I met so many wonderful people and organizations interested in my work, it feels surreal.

Also, presenting 3 posters felt like a marathon so I’m very proud of myself!

I picked this background bc I did in-situ hybridization at @UCSF in John Rubenstein’s lab (rotation & addr no mentorship by the whip smart Allison Doupe, birdsong neuroscientist). #SfN23 #Science

Thx everyone who made #SfN23 possible! I’m trying to strengthen ties btwn neuroscientists (including undergrad/grad/postdocs) & #SciComm professionals. Communicating your science well is important & we can help! #AmEditing

and that’s a wrap on #SfN23!! it was an intense, sometimes overwhelming, but overall really great experience getting to learn about so much cool neuroscience research and meeting the masterminds behind it 🧠

PS. thank you to everyone who stopped by my poster, your interest in my work means a ton!!

Thanks for sending info! Excited to match up undergrad or grad students who want to write and get free editing & feedback on their writing if they want to try to write up a #WomenInNeuroscience Wikipedia entry. I mentor/coach writers. #SfN23

What an incredible few days I’ve had here at #SFN23. We (@blackinneuro) hosted our first in-person professional development workshop!!!!

The room was packed and honestly filled my heart to see so many Black neuroscientists 🥹💛

Focused Ultrasound for Improved Delivery of AAV Vectors to the Brain for the Treatment of Huntington's Disease
Huntington’s disease (HD) is a fatal, neurodegenerative disorder caused by an expanded CAG repeat sequence in exon 1 of the huntingtin gene (HTT). There are currently no cures for HD and lowering mutant huntingtin (mHTT) via gene therapy represents a promising strategy for this disorder. Adeno-associated viral vectors (AAV) can be used to deliver DNA sequences encoding genes, small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) or microRNAs (miRNAs) to the central nervous system (CNS) through direct injection or intravenous administration. However, the blood brain barrier (BBB) is a significant obstacle for AAV delivery to the brain. Direct injection methods are invasive and systemic delivery requires BBB permeable capsids which have variable transduction efficiencies across different species. F
