Caibleadh is a world that is held together by magic. Well, together is too strong a word. A moment after the world was shattered into pieces the gods were persuaded to save it. The pieces were not put back together, but they were held in place with magic.

However, without magical creatures around to stop them the Hollow Humans became strong and their curse spread through the humans like a contagion. Removing the connection most humans had with magic and leaving them even more vulnerable to the vices of apathy and greed.

Without them, we and our world would not be here.
The lesson of The Shattering is that we must always remember to take care of our world. Should we damage it too much, like our ancient ancestors did, it is unlikely that either the gods or magic will save us again.
