A bungalow with a low wooden fence. The garden has borders of regimented plastic flowering plants and there are two plastic flowering shrubs. Around the door and window are garlands of plastic flowers. A bit of real ivy has fought back and climbed over the fence.

I've seen lots of plastic lawns on suburban wanders but this is a first for me. Plastic flower borders and shrubs. 😖 Seen on @slowwaysuk.bsky.social walk Tarleton to Preston, plotted by @hikinghistorian.bsky.social . #ShitLawns. Amazingly the lawn looks real!

A front garden consisting of red gravel and four wooden beds, one of which contains a tiny 'lawn' of artificial grass. Generally regarded as tasteless and bloody awful.

I may have found the most soulless garden in existence.

I think the outbuilding is the punishment block.

While on the canal I go into Westminster and past the worst vandalism on the journey #shitlawns. Money can't buy taste. In the background is the minaret of the much nicer Regents Park Mosque, the golden dome of which is spectacular at sunset. (10/17)

But where are #ShitLawns?

Facebook post from Nuneaton Artificial Grass: "A fantastic transformation carried out on a new build property in galley Common nuneaton INTERESTED??? THEN SEND US A MESSAGE". Accompanying the post are a series of thumbnails predominantly showing artificial grass laid to a strip between the front of a property and the footpath. Later images show what was there before - a weeded but natural patch of land".

One of the "before" images taken from the Nuneaton Artifical Lawn post which shows natural, untendered plant growth on a strip of land between a property boundary wall and public footpath.

An "after" image from the Nuneaton Artifical Lawn post where the natural growth has all been removed and replaced with a carpet of artificial lawn, now bounded with a rope suspended between a number of wooden posts. It looks extremely sterile, the uniform green looks awful, and the area is now devoid of nature.

How anyone thinks this is a good choice is beyond me. #shitlawns

Hey world. Can anyone (particularly wrt London) advise how we’d remove about 800m2 worth of fake grass from a school that wants its garden back? Any companies in particular or trades in general that would do that? Any funding pots available to help? Thanks #hackney #shitlawns
