I loved #Shorewall but migration from #IPtables to #NFtables is the end of that road. Any alternative on @Debian #Buster ? Or should I adopt @pfSense as router OS for my small network (three interfaces, bonding, a few VLAN, a few tunnel endpoints, IPv4 and IPv6) ?
Entering his mid-70's, #Shorewall developer retires. I salute the best firewall management system I have ever used in 20 years of Linux network administration. Thank you and enjoy your retirement !

After years of use, I am still amazed at how easy #Shorewall makes the management of a router with many interfaces and VLANs - I wouldn't keep up with that any other way, nor would I even remain sane...
Spent the past couple days trying out firewall distributions. pfsense, #ipcop, #shorewall, #smoothwall. Have to say that i prefer #pfSense
#debian #shorewall '/etc/init.d/shorewall refresh' with no argument does not do what it says - you probably want safe-restart instead.
