The Arctic Collaborative Ecosystem Cruise has several onboard research teams currently collecting diverse info from the North Bering and Chukchi seas. This effort focuses on the greatest physical and biological changes in our northern waters. Come join UAF Marine Biology Professor Katrin Iken and University of Maryland Professor Lee Cooper as they provide a live update from R/V SIKULIAQ heading south to Nome!

The Chukchi Ecosystem Observatory (CEO) mooring that had been deployed in 2022, but had failed to re-surface in 2023 and 2024, has been recovered! It was brought on board successfully through the use of the ROV operated yesterday. It is expected that the data stored on the mooring will be recoverable.

Sea ice observed in the Chukchi Sea from the research vessel Sikuliaq. The ice was fairly small, quite dirty, and without marine mammal sightings but it was ice none-the-less with perhaps 10% coverage.
