Today’s #SmallGoodThing: met @fraction.bsky.social at Dog Beach in Del Mar at low tide with our dog Gracie. This was our regular Friday ritual and it’s one of my favorite things! It’s also the 4th anniversary of Dan’s epic bike crash in the desert, so today feels like a celebration!
Tonight’s #SmallGoodThing: it’s been a very busy week for me at work, but this also means I have worked with a lot of grad students. I am humbled by the research they’re doing and how smart they are.
Today’s #SmallGoodThing: I rearranged my bedroom today and it feels so much better! The added bonus is that I can now see out the back slider to the bird feeder and bath. It will be perfect in the morning for watching birds while having my morning coffee with the dogs.
Today's #SmallGoodThing: I've had several evening workshops with graduate students this week and they REALLY help me feel hope for the future. There are SO many people out here, trying to make the world a better place. It can be tiring work, but it is SO worth it. We outnumber those evil bastards!

Today’s #SmallGoodThing: beach time in the afternoon with Dan and Gracie. I love an uncrowded beach on an overcast day.
Tonight’s #SmallGoodThing: also a bit of a curse! All my library holds are coming in! I’ve had to suspend some of them because I can’t read them all at the same time! I’m so grateful for good books to entertain my brain.
Today's #SmallGoodThing: Having some time with a sleeping Gracie-dog in my lap. She's so sweet and loving and cuddly, just wants to be loved. Having her cuddle up in my lap and snoozle against my shoulder is the best!

Today’s #SmallGoodThing: took the day off & spent it with @fraction.bsky.social on a relaxed ride to get avo toast and then home. Made a big batch of green chili mac and cheese (one for tonight, two pans in the freezer for later) and now sitting on the back porch listening to the birds.

Today’s #SmallGoodThing: it was much cooler today than it has been for several days. I took advantage of the cooler weather by taking Gracie on a nearly 4 mile walk. Take good care, friends.
Today’s #SmallGoodThing: dinner from a local pasta shop. Lasagna and garlic bread for @fraction.bsky.social and artichoke caprese panini and a salad for me. I love supporting local businesses and I don’t have to cook! Happy weekend, folks.
Today’s #SmallGoodThing: picked up new dog beds for the doggos at Costco! We’ve had the others for many, many years and the stuffing was cooked. These girls are now supremely snuggled in plush beds.

Today’s #SmallGoodThing: I caught up with a old friend on the phone. I also had some time between meetings for a quick ride!
Today's #SmallGoodThing: A student asked for help finding the IT help desk that is located in the library. (I was walking back to my office after a meeting...) I walked them over and we talked while making our way. Super delightful conversation with a new freshman in their first semester on campus.
Today’s #SmallGoodThing: making plans to meet friends in Long Beach to watch Dirtbags baseball in a couple weeks. I’m taking the train to Anaheim and biking to LB from there. It’s mostly on a dedicated path and should be loads of fun. My first time on a solo bike overnight!!
Today’s #SmallGoodThing: my toe is finally healed up enough for me to take longer walks. I did two miles this afternoon before it started barking and aching a bit. Walking really helps my mental state, so this is a welcome change.

Today’s #SmallGoodThing: Gracie is healed enough to go get groomed! The groomer left her eyebrows, her little mohawk, and some of her ear feathers. She just might have to come to campus with me tomorrow!
Tonight’s #SmallGoodThing: listening to the neighborhood kids play hide and seek outside our place. My office window is open and I can hear all their whispering and running around. The cutest! 🥹💜💚
Tonight’s #SmallGoodThing is enjoying 1/2 a bottle of 2026 Bigfoot from Sierra Nevada. This is one of my favorite beers for a reason. So dang delicious!
Today’s #SmallGoodThing: I went to a friend’s 40th birthday party this afternoon. This person has had some hard news recently so it was wonderful to see folks there to celebrate her and share some joy. Hug your loved ones, all!
Today’s #SmallGoodThing: I had an appointment with a new-to-me eye doctor and she tweaked my contact lens prescription. It’s much, much better now! And I really liked her! It’s a super small, local practice so I’m stoked it went great.

Today’s #SmallGoodThing: Gracie’s bandages from her tumor removal have finally come off! It’s been a looong journey with an unplanned skin graft, necrotic tissue, an infection…and lots of time spent in a cone. So happy she’s healing up!
