Four large (3.5 inches long) silver safety pins laid on black flocked velvet, one below the other. The top pin has two sets of iridescent yellow/gold glass beads - each grouping in the shape of crescent moons framing a star. The second pin has resin gummi-bear shaped beads lined up red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple. The third pin has an assortment of glass leaf beads in assorted shades of blue, green, and yellow, two silver colored leaf charms, and a silver colored snail charm. The bottom pin has iridescent rainbow colored glass fish beads strung (alternating with small spacer beads in the same color scheme) 2 fish, 1 fish, 2 fish, 1 fish, 2 fish.

I had these absurdly giant pins, so I decided to dress them up a bit!

Me, wearing a black tshirt with a b/w picture of a Canada goose on it (it's an @EffinBirds.com creation, and out of picture range, it says Tabarnak) and wearing what looks like a lumpy white pillowcase with some giant red polka dots (these will be parts of flowers, eventually). There is a small hole in the upper left, where some of the wool roving has separated.

My submission for #WIPWednesday is this sauna hat I'm making with wet felting.

I didn't get some of the wool tufts felted quite well enough on the first go-round, but this is only the first couple of layers.

It'll firm up and shrink as I add more wool and roll it.

An enhanced photo from a deep-space telescope, of an orange swirling nebula with an almost sky-blue background haze. Shining through it are thousands of points of light from distant stars and galaxies. In the center are three larger and very bright stars, with six refraction lines bursting out of each one.

A very basic swirl of felted wool roving, with shades of blue in the background, and a swirl of orange from around 1:00-3:00 and 4:00 to 8:00, with a white swirl at the center of that.

Starting a new needle felting project!

This is about an hour or so of work - so there's obviously a lot more to go.

Once I get all the felting done, I will add the stars and galaxies with embroidery and glass beads.

An expanse of chunks of ice that have broken, rubbed against one another, and fused back together, so there are softened edges as well as deep cracks between the pieces. It kind of looks like a flagstone floor. In the far distance, along the horizon, is the land on the other side of Sandusky Bay. The sky is blue, but with some light purple clouds coming in from the direction of the horizon.

On a brown paper packaging envelope sits a small wooden box stained with a rich dark brown color. A paintbrush just under 2 cm wide sits to the left of it. At the 11:00 position is a pickle jar with dark brown Walnut ink in it. At the 1:00 position is another balsa wood box with a lighter coat of the same stain on it.

I stained one of those Dollar Store balsa wood boxes with my homemade walnut ink, and I have to say, it looks pretty good!

In a small square balsa wood tray covered in gold tissue paper, a diorama depicting the Tarot card The Hanged Man. The background is an elaborate floral pattern from a Victorian era wallpaper design, and in the foreground are some cut-outs of flowers: some from a Klimt painting postcard, and another from a different Victorian wallpaper design. There are some cut-outs of birch trunks in assorted spots. In the back left corner is a rather thick forked branch that, in scale, looks like a stout tree with a sturdy limb sticking out toward the 2:00 position. A green ribbon with many leaves coming off of it is wound around the branch and up and around the inside of the tray. Dangling from one end that is wrapped around the diagonal limb of the "tree" is the eponymous man, dangling upside-down by one leg. His left leg is bent so that his ankle lies across his right thigh, and his arms are bent with his hands resting behind his neck. He looks rather relaxed, to be honest. There is a yellow "halo" emanating from his head.

In a square balsa wood tray is a diorama of the tarot card The Moon. The tray itself is covered in black tissue paper, and there is a vintage photo of the Moon pasted in the very back. It takes up almost the entire inside. The two watchtowers on either side are cut out and perched on some three-dimensional Hills made from crushed up gold tissue paper. The two dogs that are banging at the Moon in the foreground, red on the left and yellow on the right, are also mounted on three-dimensional Hills made of crushed up gold tissue paper. At the very center in the front is a Red Lobster looking like it is jumping out of the water and shouting yay!

This one is also not finished, but I had to point out how the dog on the right side kind of looks like Pikachu. And I couldn't leave out the celebrating lobster.

In a small square tray turned on its side, a diorama of the tarot card the fool has been set up using ephemera cutouts of old astronomical illustrations, origami paper with Japanese wave patterns, and some paper with a design reminiscent of a Klimt painting. The fool himself is cut out from a shiny golden Tarot picture (not a consecrated deck, fear not!), and the little creature at his feet has been replaced with a cutout of a neko good luck cat. The exterior of the box has been covered in a floral line drawing design tissue paper.

It's not by any means finished, yet, but my latest arts and crafts project is a Foolish little diorama.

The top shelves in each section have books with little rings sticking out of the top, ready to be made into pendants or earrings.

A collection of close to 5 dozen miniature 1:12 size books, with covers made from patterned scrapbook paper and origami paper with washi patterns, all sitting on the top of a wooden lap desk. On the left, there are about a dozen and a half "single wide" books, about half of which have had a metal loop added so they can be hung on a cord or keychain. On the right are five and a half rows of "double-wide" books made from two of the single blanks fastened together to make thicker tomes. Most are laid out alternating the front and the spine, and at the bottom are three upturned little books, fore-edges out. The leftmost has gold and silver speckles, the center one has silver-colored gilding, and the rightmost one has gold-colored gilding.

I'm using 1:12 blank books, and using scrapbook and origami paper for the covers.

I may take my fine-tip paint markers and do some fore-edge designs, too.

In a 9x13 baking dish lined with parchment, a huge chocolatey mass of gooey brownie. There are chopped walnut pieces on 2/3 of it, and there is a transparent orange glaze spread across the whole thing, in various stages of being absorbed

I didn't have apricot preserves for the glaze, so I substituted orange marmalade.

In a large (9") wooden embroidery hoop with black fabric, a large tree is being embroidered. The trunk and branches, done with single threads of three different shades of brown together, start wide at the bottom and narrow toward the top. The tips of the branches between 12:00 and 3:00 have tiny green leaves made with clusters of single stitches emerging from a single point in a fan-like pattern.

Starting another tree, and since it's #WIPWednesday somewhere, here it is!

A 3 inch wooden embroidery hoop set with black fabric. There is an embroidered maple tree in full autumnal colors - yellows and oranges and pinks and reds. The canopy is made from knots of assorted sizes and color blends, giving it a three-dimensional effect. The trunk, which also looks three-dimensional, is done with longer, vertical stitches in brown thread.

In a 4-inch wooden embroidery hoop, a patch of moss and lichen created entirely of french knots. The outer edge is thick and pillowy kelly green, and within that, there are smaller patches made from assorted shades of green, brown, and grey, in assorted thicknesses. (Anything from two threads all the way up to six threads - sometimes solid color, ssometimes a blend of colors.) If you could reach through the screen and touch it, it would feel soft and bumpy, with several different textures.

It is finished!

Around the outside is puffy and kelly green. Within that, there is a meandering trail of brown, with lighter green puffs. In the center is light yellow-green made with single knots using a single thread of embroidery floss. (If you're not an embroidery person, your standard floss has 6 strands to it that you can separate or use together.) In that section, there is a small trail of grey vaguely cup-like puffs. The bottom 2-ish cm of the piece is unfinished, and just empty black fabric. The silver sewing needle is stuck through the fabric outside the hoop at 1:00.

A little loosely needle-felted ghost made from undyed wool roving. There are two little beads for eyes, and the whole "head" is shoved into a small glass globe, while the rest of the ghost trails below it.

I lost the cork for this little glass globe, and had a hilarious (in my head) idea of a ghost in space, but it had to wear a space helmet.

So, I pulled out some roving and made one!

I'm not sure if it needs some extra accessories, or if this is funny enough on its own.

Seven watercolor "nebula" images set under round glass cabochons, in pendant trays. Four are of a filigree pattern that kind of looks like a wrought-metal sunshine. Two are a bit plainer - looking like bands of cables tied together in a circle. All are made of bronze-colored metal. One is made of wood with gold highlights, and is slightly larger than the others.

I made some more nebulae - though, in the larger, round settings, some could also pass as gas giants.

The warm color of my lamp doesn't do the sparkles justice, though.
