Outlaw is #SouthSteens #wildhorse royalty, grandson of Renegade & Lupine. Four generations of his family came to Skydog Sanctuary when he was a tiny #foal. When Renegade passed, the #mares in his band formed a fierce matriarchy that taught him to swim in ponds, rest among Aspens, run wild & free.

Commodore & Valor are the last 2 additions to Wild Boy’s band before winter. A beautiful reunion with other #wildhorses from the #SouthSteens in #OR. Shortly after this, they were both looking around in awe, the wind in their manes. Their freedom has been restored on territory near their homeland.

When Mustang Meg took this photo of Flash Lightening glowing in the late sun on #southsteens, “He assessed my every move, snorting - a primal sound I can feel down to my shoes.” She knew if she moved in a way he didn’t like, the #stallion would vanish in a cloud of dust.
Cavalier was a #SouthSteens OR band #stallion with some 20 #mares and babies. Without a lieutenant, he guarded them by himself, incredibly kind, attentive, and loving to his family. We found him emaciated, disorientated, terrified in a Texas kill pen via the BLM’s Sale Authority. #givingtuesday
