Wild bird cherry is most widespread by limestone streams in the Scottish Glens, the Lake District and in the Pennines.
It is grown in streets and gardens in the south of England for its attractive white flowers, which bloom in May.

Blackthorn is blooming!
Blackthorn produces abundant white flowers in early spring, which attract flying insects, especially solitary bees. The caterpillar of the black hairstreak butterfly feeds on the leaves. 💚
