On #ThisDayInHistory in 1957, the #SovietUnion launched their second spacecraft into orbit, #Sputnik2. This followed their pioneering first-ever satellite the previous month. This time Sputnik had a passenger, #Laika, a stray dog from Moscow. She perished during the fourth orbit.
