Blessings & joy to you today, the Feast Day of St Gobnait, whose name translates to "bringer of joy" or "little goddess or sacred" depending on your source. She was a wanderer, a seeker; the patron saint of bees, beekeepers & ironworkers. All a bit of alchemy, if you ask me.

Today is the feast day of my favourite saint, St Gobnait...patron saint of beekeeping and ironworkers. Since there is a long history of both in my family, I thought I should mention it. #stgobnait #savethebees🐝 #beekeeping #ironworkers
Harry Clarke, stained glass artist, created an image of Gobnait (installed in 1916 in Honan Chapel in Co. Cork). She is depicted as having long red hair, a blue cloak (bejewelled) & bees hovering around her head.
Gobnait has a foothold in many hearts across Ireland
In folklore, she's a fierce warrior & patroness of the bees🐝
Today, there's a Gobnait zeitgeist! In #Dingle a 6ft puppet of her will feature in #BealtaineFestival 2025
'Til then, happy feast day patroness! 💫🐝💫

Many counties lay claim to #StGobnait. Folklore describes her #journeying across Ireland to find her place of resurrection. Born in Clare, she travelled to Inis Mór, onto Dún Chaoin & then to Ballyvourney where she built her 1st church where 9 white deer grazing
