S.H.I.E.LD. originally, back in the #Steranko day, was Supreme Headquarters, International Espionage, Law Enforcement Division. It became Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. Then Norman Osborn took over and changed it to H.A.M.M.E.R. Which doesn't stand for anything.
