When trees can protect against avalanches A question of height: SLF research shows when protection forests really work – 50 years of data from Stillberg.

Data from 50 years of research at the #Stillberg afforestation site in #Davos shows that trees should be at least twice as high as the #snowpack to prevent avalanches. In addition, evergreen conifers hold back more #snow.
