Thanks to reporting by the Register-Guard newspaper, you can read all about Flock ALPR cameras yourself, and I encourage you to do so. A fully informed public is the best way to ensure our local governments make responsible decisions.

Further, Medford police has been known to give suspicious reasons for searching Eugene’s Flock data, with the stated reason “hehehe.” This doesn’t hold up to scrutiny, and would lead any reasonable person to assume their motives are not in good faith.

In-state agencies, like police and county law enforcement, can access our local Flock data with only one-word reasons, like “investigation”. Our local PD has to trust these searches are legitimate based on that, and not an explanation or a case number.

Accessing that data is against state law, as we are a sanctuary state. This shows clearly that the existing safeguards to ensure Flock data adheres to state law are insufficient.

Someone asked, doesn’t Flock only impact criminals? Actually, Flock’s own internal audits have already found that out-of-state agencies, like the Customs and Border Protection (CBP), have accessed Flock’s ALPR Data in Oregon cities like Eugene.
