In @ishi-amai.bsky.social 's and my AU for Darius & Rae, Rae exchanges his swordarm after many years to extend Darius' lifespan, unwilling to lose him.
It's not something Rae regrets, but he does struggle. Luckily he's not alone.
A rough little brainrot drabble:
"The fuck did she do to me?" he asks louder as he gingerly touches the rugged line, a familiar temper rising inside him; elevated pulse, faster breath, a rush of cold sweat across his back. His black and blues settles on Rae, finally scenting her blood on the male. "What did she do. What did you do. The fuck happened?" he asks, anger and grief in equal measure lacing his voice. ~ "I don't know what she did to you," Rae answers, putting his sword down before turning to face Darius, kneeling still. "I haven't seen you in two years. Our—what we—" He stops himself to sort the turmoil in his head. His eyes land on the large, fresh scar trailing down Darius' torso that the linen doesn't quite cover up. "I tried looking for you, but there were no traces," Rae continues, glancing up into Darius' eyes. "I figured you didn't want to be found. Not by me, at least. And who could blame you?"
