To far north, Leytonstone High Rd leads north east to Leytonstone House. Abolitionist Priscilla Johnston (1808-1852) lived here, 1851. Gainsborough Lodge, Leytonstone was also the birthplace of Muriel Lester (1883-1968). An Alderman in Poplar 1922-25, she was later an eminent international peace campaigner for many years. The Lodge was demolished in mid 1960s. 📷

Some way north of Leytonstone High Rd station is Gainsborough Road, early 1870s home of women's activist Louisa Martindale (1839-1914). North east of line between Leyton Midland Rd & Leytonstone High Rd stations is 58 Wallwood Road, home of suffragette Agnes Whatmough (1885-1972) in 1911. North of Leyton Midland Rd station was Mary Fletcher Memorial Church, until 1968. South of Lea Bridge Road to far west of line is Church Rd, site of Leyton House, demolished c1912. Isabella Gilmore née Morris (1842-1923) lived here c1855-60. Far east from railway line is Shernhall Street. Shern Hall was a childhood home of Frances Greville, Countess of Warwick (1861-1938). South west of Walthamstow Queen's Road station is Walthamstow Cemetery, burial place of Lady Catherine McEntee (1880-1962). Running east, the line meets Pretoria Avenue, Walthamstow. In the early 1900s Marian Curran (1871-1921) lived at 1 Pretoria Avenue. A committed trade unionist, she was Assistant Secretary to the Women's Trade Union League & founder of the Jarrow branch of the Women's Labour League. #suffragetteline
