Looking south on west-coast beach - a hill on the other side of the bay is lit by a setting sun, whilst the beach itselfi s mostly darker in the dusk. The moon is visible and some birds flying. The sunlight reflects off the windows of a house on the opposite side of the bay, creating a startling golden reflection in the gently waves.

#SundayPix #SundayPixOld I'd been tidying up some older photographs this week and found this one which I think was originally taken on a film-camera in the 90s and scanned in at some point. The light that night was really something, especially as the sunset reflected in the windows.

Me, a woman in a lilac t-shirt & light denim shorts, standing on a large wooden platform with ropes at each corner - a human-sized weighing scale which dates back to 1482! This a renowned location in Europe to get certified that you weren't a witch.

Arabian horses are one of the oldest breeds in the world.

The Horse museum in Lexington, Kentucky, US had a lovely scene & video display dedicated to these amazing horses. Did you know they lived in the tents of sheiks & were treated as family?

#SundayPixOld The jug holding the wooden tulips & the trifle bowl, both crystal, were brought over from Berlin by my Great Grandmother apparently back in late 1800s/early 1900s.

The facade of a tomb carved out of the rock-face. The stone is a deep reddish- orange in colour. There is a doorway to the single room, flanked by six pillars, the outer pairs holding broken carvings. Above are six more pillars, in narrower pairs, also with carvings in each pair. In the foreground is a small two-wheeled carriage with a blue awning, drawn by a single horse. Three local men stand around the carriage.

An ancient street converted in highly detailed mosaic. Mainly green, brown and red against a cream background. Features trailing vines and leaves, a bird that looks like a dodo (if they knew of such things!) and various geometric shapes.

A knee-high stone shelf runs along the length of an old stone wall. In the shelf are a series of holes the size of the hole in a loo seat. A woman sits, laughing, on the furthest hole. It is in the open air, in sunshine — presumably it was once a room, but has lost its roof and the other walls.

I tried to look up photos of old things for @wombat37.bsky.social ‘s #SundayPixOld by searching my camera roll on the word “old” and, I shit you not, it mostly came up with photos of ME. But it also randomly came up with this one and it made me laugh, so I’m sharing it with you.

A close-up photo of the back of an elderly lady’s right hand, resting on a floral green cushion. She is wearing a light brown top with an unbuttoned dark brown cardigan. Her nails are yellowed, only four fingers can be seen as the thumb is tucked under her hand, and the back of the hand is ridged with enlarged veins.

I was wearing exactly the right clothes for the walk. Not too hot. Not too cold.

I’m not 100% sure how old this is. I’m going by my half remembered A level Geography. But the last ice age was about 10,000 years ago. So that would be when water started flowing again to cut a gorge.

My Dad worked for a textile printers and couldn't believe they were throwing old printing blocks away. This is 1 of 2 that he salvaged and I still have. I would love to know what the full pattern would have been (there would be different blocks for each colour). Possibly 19th century?
