Walking home this morning I found a sturdy stick in the woods to help clear a few blocked drains, and did make a mess of sticks & leaves on the road but at least got the water moving. In the last picture the fellow in the distance had a shovel, so I let him tackle that one:

I excelled myself in Jordan, with a flash-flood at Petra, where we had to be driven out through the Siq in a government evacuation. A couple of years before, two German tourists had drowned in the Siq.
