When the workers sense their queen is not laying well, getting old, or giving off weak pheromones, they raise a new queen from a fertilized egg. Once the new queen is ready, she takes over, sometimes without drama, sometimes with a bit of a showdown. 💥Unlike a swarm, the colony doesn’t split. Everyone stays put and just transitions to their new ruler. It’s nature’s way of hitting the “refresh” button on leadership! Long live the queen… or at least, the next one! 👸🐝
