#SustainabilityIsHard example 7. Even if I have the skillset to repair an item, it is built in a way that makes repairs so difficult it's not worth my effort. Such as the pictured vacuum that needs a new battery, but there is not a single screw driver in this house that can reach all the screws.

#SustainabilityIsHard Ex 6: Our best intentions can be exploited by someone else in a way that is counterproductive to our goals. I'm thinking of a post on this platform that was curating a list of books in response to the current US political climate, and then had an Amazon link for each book.

#SustainabilityIsHard Ex3 because most internet search engines will sabotage you. I can't count how often I have searched for a more ethical option via Google and only been fed big brands that pay to be on Listicles with a "sustinability" buzzword.

I keep a running notes list of ideas for folks in my life, which not only helps me stress less about gift shopping, but now I can help other folks who need ideas. #SustainabilityIsHard because it takes more forethought. It gets easier with practice and when you find the systems that work for you.

#SustainabilityIsHard Ex2- I got 2 texts today for last-minute family gift ideas. I'm grateful the askees are trying to gift intentionally, and the easy option is gift cards. I avoid suggesting Amzon or REI for obvious ethical reasons, and many local/ small business options require in-store pickup.

So I tell her- The lights are not designed to last, or to be repaired. That is not your fault. You tried *something*, don't lose sleep over the rest. If Everyone tried a little to fix their lights before throwing them out, some Would be saved. #SustainabilityIsHard but small actions add up.

#SustainabilityIsHard Example # 1- My mom expressed frustration towards Xmas lights she has been unable to fix. She has replaced fuses and bulbs, and that is the limit of her skill level. And the copper wire is so thin and crappy, that they have no recycling value.
