Power generation is dwindling while consumption is surging due to factors like the growth of artificial intelligence, data centers, electric vehicle adoption, and a revitalized U.S. manufacturing sector. Simultaneously, existing power plants are being decommissioned, largely driven by state and federal policies aimed at reducing carbon emissions and economic pressures. Criticism has centered on PJM’s interconnection process, suggesting it’s hindering the addition of new energy sources. However, this process has undergone improvements and been sanctioned by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
