#BonAppetitYourMajeaty obviously belongs. Last year I also watched the 2001 kdrama #DeliciousProposal, sometimes known as #SweetProposal, a romance about rival families who run Chinese restaurants.

Day 21: A Drama That Surprised You

#SweetProposal is an old school kdrama from 2001 that I watched for its stacked cast of rising stars. It surprised me because #SoYooJin & #JungJoon are clearly the leads, based on screen time, yet (spoiler!) despite her crush, they DON’T end up together. #EYDC2025

My rants about #kDrama #SweetProposal are a paean to recaps. I raced through the entire awful story at 4X FF ONLY to find out if the psycho arsonist bad guy (2ML was a COMPLETE chip off the old block) got his comeuppance. I searched VERY hard for recaps to avoid having to watch, found none

#kDrama #SweetProposal aka #DeliciousProposal has what can only be called the 2ML physically assaulting the ML, throwing him to the ground and kicking him when's on the floor, in the antepenultimate episode. TWO EPISODES LATER, he gets a happy ending with the 2FL ? Neither sweet nor delicious!

I should add that in #kDrama #SweetProposal it is not only So Ji Sub's CHARACTER that is awful, so is his ACTING. He LITERALLY has exactly ONE expression in EVERY.SINGLE.SCENE (at least up to ep 14 where I am now). A squint/scowl combo. That's the extent of his range. VERY MUCH of the era.

Sorry, spoilers but I'm mad as hell about this: In #kDrama #SweetProposal So Ji Sub's character is AWFUL, just VILE. I'm at 12/16 & he's an unredeemed piece of walking trash. Yet he 'wins' the 2FL? THAT'S her reward? Sheesh! I read several angry comments about this at MDL & I agree 1000% 🤮😡

Trying to get into #kDrama #SweetProposal and finding it a challenge. Then discovering that #jDrama #MarryMyHusband is complete, woohoo!

What do you do when your 2ML is 6” (182 cm) but your 1ML is just 5’8” (173 cm)? Well, for starters, never have them stand next to each other in a two-shot. And if you absolutely must have a scene with both, make them sit down. 🤣 #SweetProposal #SoJiSub #JungJoon

7/10 ⭐️ My expectations were low going in to this 2001 kdrama… it delivered.

The good: the star-studded cast, the plot kept me guessing, it managed to stick the ending

The bad: VERY dated, some overacting, the “funny” parts I just ⏩

#SweetProposal from 2001. When was the last time you saw a kdrama actor take off his shirt to reveal a hairy chest? When was the last time the makeup department let So Ji-sub show his moles?
2025 kdramas would have us believe Korean men have no body hair and no freckles.

One of the things I find most charming about the 2001 #SweetProposal is that it has a love triangle with two WOMEN. And neither is a b*tch! When was the last time you saw that in a kdrama?
I’m on episode 12 of 16 and I still don’t know which will end up with the ML.

I’m currently watching #ResidentPlaylist from 2025 and #SweetProposal and it’s really striking how there is NO detectable product placement in the 2001 kdrama, whereas every other scene in RP is an ad for takeout tteokbokki, a designer handbag, Mega MGC coffee, or Subway.

Y me resulta imposible no reconocer los dos dramas que veo en este momento: #SweetProposal de 2001 y #DearHongrang de 2025 porque ambos tienen familia adoptiva.
