Common-born militia from the #SwissConfederacy defeated a much larger force of professional #Hapsburg soldiers at the #BattleOfMortgarten. The Swiss won using blocks of infantry armed with #halberds & #pikes. This tactic came to dominate European battlefields for centuries.
