Tree Swallow (Tachycineta bicolor). These birds are known for their striking iridescent blue-green upper parts and clean white undersides, as seen in the photo. Adult males have a glossy, deep blue-green back and head, with blackish flight feathers and bright white underparts. Females are duller, often with more brown in their plumage. Tree Swallows are highly agile aerial insectivores that catch flying insects, such as mayflies, ants, and beetles, with acrobatic twists and turns. They often fly low over the water to hunt.
