Trillium as its name implies is a 3 leafed plant. The deep and lighter green leaves and a flower bud are the stars of this photo. In a few days when the bud opens, it will display a graceful deep red / burgundy 3 petaled flower. Also in this picture to the upper right of the trillium are some slender leaf toothwort flowers just opening. Toward the bottom right of the trillium is a pine coned shaped object. It is the remains of one of last year's tulip poplar flowers.

A dog is leading the way on a hilly trail in south central Indiana. Bebo and I were hiking at the Laura Hare Nature Preserve at Downey Hill on the trail that the Hoosier Hikers Council was still building in 2015. We finished construction of the trail in 2017.
