A Tiger Swallowtail butterfly is taking a break from fluttering by letting the sun warm it up on a cool day for flying. It is probably the Easter variety, but it might be the Appalachian one which is less common in Indiana. This is a large, nearly 3 inches from wing tip to wing tip, predominately yellow butterfly resting of the leaf litter of the forest. The butterfly has black stripes and black borders on its wings. There are also blue markings near the tail of its wings. Its body and antenna are black.
