Doctors & other so-called authorities had all kinds of ways to keep people from taking risks w/sex. In 1834, #SylvesterGraham offered a high-fiber diet to reduce the desire for sex, which he claimed could lead to madness. He warned married couples of the risk of too frequent sex.

Throwback Thursday: I doubt my mother or grandmother knew that #SylvesterGraham invented #GrahamCrackers to prevent #masturbation when they fed me the bland biscuits with milk when I was a child but I can tell you they sure didn't work as intended with me~!
