We were proud to be at The Lawyer Awards 2025 yesterday, shortlisted for Specialist Law Firm of the Year.
While we didn’t win, being there was a meaningful step forward for us and for the growing recognition of animal law as a legitimate and necessary part of the legal landscape.

TLA’s annual conference is a great source of information & inspiration! Though 170+ Houston ISD libraries are now closed, 70+ library programs remain in the district, with dedicated professionals committed to staying informed about innovative educational approaches, new tech, & more. #tla2025
Great debut at #TLA2025 for Bookji!
If you didn’t catch us, shoot me a message—we’re building something exciting for schools and libraries!
Just returned from #TLA2025 in Dallas feeling inspired and recharged. I learned about new books, library programming, and legislative updates. I even presented at the Mackin booth and with Karina Quilantan-Garza on librarian-led AI PD. Grateful for the connections and growth!
A t-shirt by Carpe Librum. It shows a black cat wearing glasses while sitting on a stack of books. The text next to the cat illustration is a dictionary entry for the word, bibliocat (Felis catus librorum).
A black and white sticker of a skeleton holding a book while standing in front of a large stack of books. The text on the edge reads: Death By TBR. Two clusters of leaves decorate the top right and bottom left corners.
Photograph of the title slide for a slide deck showing Mychal Threets standing behind a display of picture books. The title text reads: Might You Be Ready For Library Joy? The TLA logo is placed on the bottom right corner.
A display sign with text that reads: Welcome Texas Library Association attendees. We hope your stay is a “novel” and “page-turning” experience at Lorenzo Hotel.
I may be biased but librarian conferences are for the cool crowd. Got to meet and hear some great speakers present about their books, library joy, and fighting against censorship.

powerpoint slide with a white background & heading that reads "SEEDS GROW INTO STORIES...' TLA Teachers' Day with Grace Lin & Kate Messner. Slide has circular photos of Kate and Grace, along with their books: THE TROUBLE WITH HEROES shows a boy with an orange backpack standing on a mountain with a Bernese mountain dog, and THE GATE, THE GIRL, AND THE DRAGON show a dragon, a stone sculpture, and a girl peeking out from behind it.
Super excited for #TLA2025 Teachers' Day on Thursday! Grace Lin & I will be giving a shared keynote - all about our new books that seem like they might not have much in common...but really do!
