The Men They Couldn't Hang: what an obscure band name, but the band itself, which emerged from the Pogues' circle, was and still is a fantastic live band with many excellent songs – such as ‘Ironmasters’ from their debut album in 1985.

I’ve a German friend who at that time used to come to the UK regularly for gigs & football matches. One time he was excited about going to see the Manic Coathangers. I said I hadn’t heard of them which surprised him. Only after a few days did I realise I was mishearing his accent. #TMTCH
