Truist upgrades Crown Holdings on 2026 growth outlook after share sell-off Investing.com -- Truist Securities upgraded Crown Holdings to Buy, saying the recent share decline creates an attractive entry point as the packaging company’s North America growth prospects improve in 2026. Crown shares have fallen nearly 8% since last week, even as the S&P 500 was flat, without any specific company-related news. The stock now trades at about 8.1 times projected 2026 earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization, below its five-year average of 9.5 times. Analysts said some of the pressure reflects concerns around beverage demand, with consumer goods makers warning of softer beer volumes. Constellation Brands this week cut its fiscal 2026 beer sales forecast to a 2-4% decline, while Heineken flagged persistent weakness in Europe after years of price increases. Truist noted Crown’s business is less exposed to beer, with more than half of its North America mix tied to carbonated soft drinks, sparkling water, energy drinks and craft cocktails. Even so, it expects modest headwinds in the third quarter in both North America and Brazil, where tariffs and weather have weighed on demand. Despite this, Truist said Crown should still meet its third-quarter profit guidance of $1.95-$2.05 per share and its full-year target of $7.10-$7.50. The company has exceeded its own guidance in the first two quarters, suggesting a conservative outlook that factors in consumer weakness and tariff risks. Truist said new business wins in North America could help Crown grow faster than the market in 2026, lifting volumes and supporting the shares. Brokerage kept its price target at $118. 3rd party Ad. Amazon stock target raised at Truist on expected beat and raise quarter Investing.com -- Truist analysts raised their price target on Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) shares to $250 from $226 in a note Wednesday, maintaining a Buy rating on the stock. The firm cited expectations for a second-quarter earnings beat and a potential guidance raise for the third quarter as its reason for raising its target for the stock. Ahead of Amazon’s results, Truist said it remains constructive on the stock, calling Amazon “a share gainer and a long-term winner across eCommerce, Advertising, Cloud and Logistics.” “We expect AMZN to report stronger than expected 2Q25 results driven by a resilient NA consumer virtually unaffected by the macro or tariffs so far, and by favorable FX on a weakening US$,” wrote the analysts. Higher order frequency and average selling prices (ASPs) are also contributing to growth, according to Truist’s analysis. The firm now expects second-quarter revenue of $164.2 billion, up 11% year over year, which is ahead of consensus at $162 billion and at the high end of Amazon’s own guidance. Truist also raised its North America revenue forecast to $99.6 billion, versus the consensus estimate of $97.2 billion. International revenue is forecast at $33.85 billion, slightly ahead of previous expectations, thanks to foreign exchange tailwinds. Truist believes FX, initially expected to be a 10-basis-point headwind, may now turn into a modest tailwind, particularly helping Q3 results. On the bottom line, the firm expects operating income of $17.4 billion, representing a 10.6% margin and surpassing the $16.7 billion consensus. “While the macro remains uncertain, we believe that sustaining 2Q trends into 3Q should lead to a guide that’s slightly above current consensus,” the analysts concluded. With valuations skyrocketing in 2024, many investors are uneasy putting more money into stocks. Sure, there are always opportunities in the stock market – but finding them feels more difficult now than a year ago. Unsure where to invest next? One of the best ways to discover new high-potential opportunities is to look at the top performing portfolios this year. Airbnb shares dip as Truist cuts stock to Sell on weak summer trends, valuation Investing.com -- Shares in Airbnb Inc (NASDAQ:ABNB) fell roughly 2% at market open Friday after Truist Securities downgraded the stock to Sell from Hold due to soft summer leisure trends and concerns over valuation. The brokerage also cut its price target to $106 from $112, warning that both U.S. and European demand appear weaker than investors currently anticipate. “We believe soft summer leisure trends, both for the U.S. and Europe (difficult y/y comp in Europe due to last summer’s events) are not being fully anticipated by analysts and investors,” Truist analysts led by C. Patrick Scholes said in a note. They also flagged valuation as a headwind, noting they “do not believe the premium valuation multiple vs. other not too dissimilar asset-lite hospitality companies such as Hilton (NYSE:HLT) is fully deserved.” Truist’s downgrade is part of a broader recalibration of expectations across the lodging sector, as analysts lower their 2025 Revenue per Available Room (RevPAR) forecasts. The broker sees third-quarter RevPAR down 3% to 1% for U.S. mid and upper-end hotels, below consensus estimates of flat growth. Limited service hotels are expected to perform worse, with RevPAR seen falling between 4% and 2%. The analysts cite a combination of weaker consumer and business confidence, cuts in government travel, and reduced inbound international demand as key factors behind the softer booking trends. While the softness isn’t considered severe, Truist said RevPAR is tracking roughly 150 basis points below current Street expectations for the third quarter. “To be clear, the softness we observe is not anywhere near the demand collapse like what occurred during Covid nor is it GFC-esque but rather RevPAR growth for 3Q and into 4Q simply looks “soft” to the tune of approx. 150 bps. below current Street expectations,” the analysts explained. Park Hotels & Resorts (NYSE:PK) was also downgraded to Hold from Buy, due to its high leisure exposure—especially in Hawaii—and elevated leverage. Truist said tourism expectations in Hawaii have deteriorated, with the University of Hawaii Economic Research Organization noting that weakness is “primarily due to actual and threatened U.S. tariff hikes that are much larger than anticipated, as well as adverse effects on increased federal policy uncertainty around trade, immigration, spending and tax cuts.” Despite a stable trend in average daily rates (ADR), Truist warned that the industry’s historical tendency to cut prices to stimulate demand during periods of weakness could return if softness continues.

Jack In The Box: Truist downgrades to Hold, slashes PT on sales headwinds Investing.com-- Truist downgraded its rating and price target on Jack In The Box Inc (NASDAQ:JACK) on Monday evening, citing concerns over extended underperformance in the fast food chain’s same-store sales. Truist downgraded JACK to Hold from Buy, and slashed its price target to $22 from $51. Truist said the downgrade was driven chiefly by expectations of continued underperformance in same-store sales, which presented a lower outlook for valuation. The brokerage said JACK was in need of a strategic plan to drive operations, and also required more than just a financial restructuring to help with a turnaround. Truist said that it does not expect JACK’s “Jack-on-Track” turnaround plan– which was announced in April– to create “significant shareholder value.” “A large real estate sale could create significant shareholder value, but we do not believe that is being contempleted,” Truist said, stating that the sale of Del Taco and the goal of lowering net debt presented only marginal positives. Truist noted that JACK’s same-store sales had lagged their peers in the burger chain sector for about seven consecutive quarters, with recent data also pointing to worsening trends in the first half of May. The brokerage raised concerns over JACK’s menu innovation and marketing pipeline, which may not be as strong as its peers’. Truist also flagged a need for a greater sense of urgency in management to improve JACK operations. Still, Truist noted that JACK’s sustained underperformance could be linked to broader weakness in U.S. consumer spending, especially amid lower-income customers. Truist also noted that other upside catalysts could be from management having a better turnaround plan than signaled, plans for more real estate monetization than anticipated, and bigger-than-expected returns from the sale of Del Taco.

Wingstop: Truist upgrades to ’Buy’ on stronger sales outlook, hikes PT Investing.com-- Truist Securities upgraded Wingstop Inc (NASDAQ:WING) to “Buy” and raised its price target, citing stronger-than-expected same-store sales (SSS) trends and accelerating store development. The brokerage upgraded the rating to "Buy" from “Hold”, significantly hiking its price target to $400 from $274. In a research note, Truist analysts said they now expect Wingstop’s SSS to bottom in the second quarter of fiscal 2025 at -3.0%, improving from prior estimates of -5.0%, with a sharp rebound forecasted in the second half of 2025 and into 2026. The firm’s proprietary card data indicated a notable reacceleration in May, while the rollout of “Smart Kitchen” technology and ongoing digital, marketing, and menu innovations are expected to support sales growth, Truist analysts said. Truist also highlighted Wingstop’s rapid new unit expansion, noting store growth reached +15.8% in 2024, with guidance of 16–17% in 2025. Analysts see long-term upside to the chain’s development targets, supported by strong unit economics and international growth. The brokerage raised its 2025 and 2026 adjusted EBITDA estimates to $246.5 million and $301.5 million, respectively, above consensus. While risks remain, including consumer pressure and international execution, Truist said Wingstop’s asset-light model and growth profile justify its premium valuation.
