I really dislike sequels... My well-documented disdain for sequels goes way back, in this instance, to the lede of this Daily Cougar review (which I've archived on Medium; jump to the 'personal blog' link to read it there) from October 7, 2012: "A sequel arguably needs a better justification for being made than an original film," and I go on to say that there's literally no reason this should have been made. It's dreadful. This review is probably most fun and notable because it's where I inadvertently attracted the attention of the Apple Guys, when I pondered what the financial relationship between Apple and the movies that feature their products so prominently. They all emailed me at once (or hit me up on Twitter, where I was, then; BlueSky, these days) to tell me that Apple famously do not pay anyone for the privilege (they'd say) of having their products in the film. It was just that much of a status symbol and had that much caché, and I got SO roasted for not knowing that headed into this. "HOW COULD YOU NOT KNOW?! YOU CALL YOURSELF A FILM CRITIC?!" yeah, lol, that's what it is. If you call yourself a film critic, ta-da, you are 😆 and you don't magically know annnnnnything once you do.
F--- That's not a grade they like to give out!
