We also run #TakeoverDay, a national day to help historic institutions empower young people and give them meaningful roles in their organisations. In 2024, nearly 700 children spent a week taking over Chatsworth House in Derbyshire!
We especially enjoyed what this @kidsinmuseums.bsky.social #TakeoverDay visitor had to say: “It was a delight to see the building full of life. And the Battle of Bosworth in the Lecture Theatre is the best thing I’ve been to – and I’m a Fellow!”.
#TakeoverDay was a great success! Our 6th form students ran the shop, wrote & performed a tour that was in costume & said in verse, & ran family activities. Over 80 visitors enjoyed this fresh spin on our building & history. A fab @kidsinmuseums.bsky.social day of fun & intergenerational learning.

The @kidsinmuseums.bsky.social #TakeoverDay family fun activities are a huge success! Visitors have been taking part in colouring activities inspired by our Tudor Royal Portraits, as well as testing their knowledge of history with a “Who Am I?” quiz created by our Takeover Team.
It's still #TakeoverDay! We've done lots so far already.

Hi everyone, it's the students of Stratton Primary here!
It's #TakeoverDay which means that we're in charge of the museum for today.
That's right, we're on the front desk, using the museums camera, cataloguing historical objects and much much more.
Gaining an insight into the variety of roles needed to create a Museum like ours, the workshops will not only showcase the roles and responsibilities within the Museum but enable learners to be a curator for the session!
We can’t wait to see what brilliant ideas they come up with!
