Fun part is, any one of those three pieces could be a "secret" (read: underappreciated) aspect of the character but I promise you...

Ha! This is actually quite funny because Kae does already live in the world of the game I have last played. These days when I'm not playing XIV (where Kae started) then I'm playing Soulframe... as them.
The world of Soulframe fits them well and it has been fun to adapt them to it.

I've come to realize that while it may look like Kae and Eupheme have the same gender, as they arenon-binary, the two are quite different if their experiences are further defined!
Kae is something like gender non-conforming while Eupheme is something closer to genderqueer.

While it is a crime I have not better thought of this for Kae and their other partners, I at least do know this for them and Baron.
To Kae, Baron is their "Healing Rain" or "My Rain". This is a callback to the first wand they saw him with and were healed by during their mission.

Kae needs to keep moving. Whether it is preparing for whatever is upcoming in some way, burning off energy with a warm-up/training, or whatever may be called for, they are not able to sit around with the feeling.
Syn is mostly the opposite. They are almost completely still with--

If it is someone they are comfortable with in general, they don't care.
If it is someone they don't know or dislike, they're actively in danger.
For Syn,
They do not give one single damn but they might charge.

It truly does depend on what is being lost.
For Kae, losing a fight is. Brutal. They brood and hyperfixate on the loss, looking to work out *why* until they can avoid such a loss again in the future by Simply Being Better. Battle is a source of pride.

I think when it matters, you'll consider it, and not every character or story will necessarily call for that examination. Some may not call for it until far later after a character or story has been created. There are some OCs I've never considered it for at all and don't expect to.

In the earlier days, Kae would only find comfort by sleeping with their lance within reach, if not touching them. It didn't matter where or how they were sleeping, as long as they had that.
That comfort has, over time, transferred to having at least one partner with them to sleep.

For Kae, I've floundered on this a lot. Overall, they never thought of having children. Never entertained the thought of a family. Until they started to settle into their relationships, they had never considered it. As the topic came up with Baron, they finally began to consider it.

I worry pretty often about people misunderstanding Kae, especially around my intentions for them.
For Syn, it is entirely different. I wouldn't say it is the point in their case, but it adds to the fun and amusement pretty easily for them to be misunderstood.

In terms of gender, they are never cis.
In terms of sexuality and romantic orientation, it may be hetero *presenting* but they are *always* queer.

For a very long time, Kae did not like their own horns and scales.
On top of never fully learning how to properly care for them, they always felt self-conscious about how their scales swallow all light and horns grew to outnumber those they had lived among.

I imagine like a simple black sweater with a simple scale pattern lined on it from top to bottom. But each would also be lined with a metallic/glowing thread of different colors, so the sweater and scales would mimic holiday lights but also how Kae's scales look when using magic.

Winter for the snow. Kae loves it. That was the best bonus of Dragoon training with Alberic was the fact that it was in Coerthas, where snow was always abundant.
Despite the fact that I consider them my little dragon, and they are, they are also essentially a snow fox in behavior.

Kae needs to be able to see or feel that from someone to be able to extend them any measure of a relationship, and it takes time.
Friendship and Allyship isn't something they seek out but they are glad to find it.

I've toyed with this a bit/few different times, but I think Kae left The Steppe around 15 and reached Eorzea (therefore starting ARR events) by 19. By DT, I think we're seeing their 30s. But it's been a loooong time since I too a serious look at a timeline for their events!

I think for Baron and Kae it was a mutual and simple decision without fanfare. It was a gesture of love, loyalty, trust, and support.
A needed way to promise to always be there.

Kae does not wear dresses/ball gowns/anything similar. Ever. For any reason. If it somehow got onto their person, it would probably be promptly ripped into resembling something more comfortable, just to prove a point.

I've been spending a lot of time developing my DnD/BG3 originated OC (Syn) and it really makes me happy with the amount of detail and depth that has come into their character. 🥹 Not because this is atypical for my OCs but because I really didn't expect it with *them*.

Kae doesn't often talk about their guilt. It is a quiet, heavy thing.
They feel guilt for every time they have "failed" or have perceived a failure, especially ones that result in sacrifice.
Their mind often looks at things in an idealized way and it results in unrealistic standards.

Unless at home or another space in which they are significantly comfortable, Kae is a very light sleeper and does not fully settle. They keep to whatever space they've taken for rest and do so quietly.
When at home, they sprawl about on a pile of pillows or curl into a partner in bed.

Kae, to a fault, is always trying to improve. Though they do just have a genuine passion for learning, especially different battle styles, it has become something more of an obsession during their time as WoL; Fear of inadequacy leading to losses and sacrifices that need not be made.

While Kae has always been very much the "eat to live" sort, I think as they got the opportunity to try different foods - especially sweets of varied types - they have been very eager to do so and end up being fonder of sweets of all types than they would care to admit.
