A stunning composite image from Kitt Peak National Observatory captures the Tau Herculid meteor shower over 2.5 hours on May 30th. Nineteen Tau Herculids meteors streak across a sky filled with stars and the Milky Way, with the Bok 2.3-meter and Mayall 4.0-meter telescopes in the foreground. While not a meteor storm as predicted, the shower provided a memorable celestial display.

Well: #TauHerculids seem to be a good shower, if maybe not a storm. Air was a little hazy by me (avg transparency + lt pollution) but I could see maybe 12-13 good ones of +1 to +3 magnitude while I was out—probably 40 mins, seemed to die out by ~1:15, so maybe ZHR=24 before then

Managed to count 15 shooting stars amid the gazillion lightning bugs before calling it a night. Good show. #MeteorStorm #meteorshower #TauHerculids
