Subcommittee backs teacher mentoring program with stipends, alignment amendment The Pre K-12 Education Appropriations Subcommittee favorably reported CS for SB 182, establishing a Department of Education teacher training and mentoring program with mentors required to have at least three years' experience, a highly effective rating and eligible for a stipend of up to $3,000; a late-filed delete-all amendment aligning the bill with the House was adopted.

Florida's Pre K-12 Education Appropriations Subcommittee just took a major step toward empowering teachers with a new mentoring program that offers stipends and aligns with House initiatives!

Using AI to Reduce Student Screen Time: Fighting the attention economy with its own weapons. | Sunrise Classroom There is something deeply ironic about using artificial intelligence to get kids off screens. That’s like hiring a personal trainer who lives at a donut shop.

More AI does not have to mean more screen time. In fact, the smartest use of AI in schools might actually reduce student screen time.

Subcommittee backs bill creating $3,000 stipend mentoring program for teachers in D/F schools The PreK–12 Budget Subcommittee reported House Bill 157 favorably after Representative Henson described a mentor program placing high‑performing current and retired teachers in D/F schools; the bill funds a $3,000 stipend per mentor from previously decategorized education enrichment allocations and uses an existing mentoring plan for outcome reporting.

A new bill aims to transform struggling schools by pairing high-performing teachers with those in need, offering a $3,000 stipend for mentorship to boost retention and effectiveness.
