Mansell should have won the race for #TeamLotus but despite having a big lead, he crashed out lapping far quicker than he needed to. Of course he didn't accept responsibility, bizarrely blaming slippery white lines! Regularly out-paced by De Angelis, his Lotus career was a major disappointment.

The late great Ayrton Senna was born on this day 66 years ago. For me, it was his 3 years at #TeamLotus that I'll remember most. 6 Grand prix wins & countless pole positions, but unfortunately no world title before he left for McLaren. #F1

I was too young to have been aware of Jim Clark's achievements in #F1 & other categories before his untimely death, but from all I've heard and read, he fully deserves his status as a legend of the sport. And of course, he was a two time world champion for #TeamLotus. 🏁🏆

Hadn't realised that when the Fittipaldi team folded, Peter War offered Newey a role as aerodynamicist at #TeamLotus for 1982 but instead Adrian accepted an alternative offer from March. Imagine what could have been if he'd helped design the mid 80's Ayrton Senna cars alongside Gérard Ducarouge? #F1

As I celebrated another dominant 1-2 win for #TeamLotus on this day in 1978, I wonder what odds I'd have got on Lotus not winning another Grand Prix for 4 years? It would have been unthinkable at the time, but sadly it became true. As a teenage fan though, that 1978 glory year was unforgettable. 🏁🏆

As a #TeamLotus fan, this was the moment I'd been waiting for since the Senna era; the sight of a Lotus back near the front. After qualifying an amazing 4th in the 1994 Italian GP, Johnny Herbert momentarily took 3rd place into the 1st chicane, only to be punted out by Eddie Irvine! Heartbreaking!
