Today is #tellalieday - which was a new one to me.
Lie comes from Proto-Germanic leuganan and was spelled lien in Middle English. Apparently to lie through your teeth dates to the 1940s.
p.s. all of the above is true. I don't think I've got the hang of this day yet π
