LES NOMADES ÄWRǞNIYĀN DES SOURCES PERSANES MÉDIÉVALES ET LES ERREMENTS DE L’HISTORIOGRAPHIE MODERNE Il a été depuis longtemps remarqué que, tant dans les discours anthropologiques qu’historiens, l’association systématique des termes « nomades » et « tribus » conduisait bien souvent à instaurer une fausse équivalence entre les deux catégories1. Le constat est particulièrement vrai en ce qui concerne les sociétés nomades des steppes d’Eurasie centrale, traditionnellement perçues à travers le prisme tribal. La tribu désigne en principe un groupe de population structuré par la parenté et non par des rapports politiques, et aurait constitué l’organisation logique des nomades pastoraux des steppes dont la mobilité constante entraverait la constitution de liens territoriaux2.
